You can now do this at home.
The UK government and NHS are introducing at‑home cervical screening kits (HPV self‑sampling) to make screening easier and more comfortable — especially for women who feel anxious or uncomfortable having a smear test at their GP surgery.
Why This Matters
- The virus that can cause cervical cancer is called HPV. More than 5 million women in England have not done their cervical screening.
- Cervical screening can save lives. It can stop about 5,000 deaths every year. If cancer is found early, it can be treated.
- You can now do this test at home. It is simple and private. It helps you check if HPV is in your body. If your test is normal, you only need to do it again in 3–5 years, depending on your age.
- The test is free. You can ask your GP, or you can ask SOFIAA at: hello@SOFIAA.com.
- The kit will be posted to your home, and you send it back in the free envelope.
